Winterfest president celebrates 20th Parade

This year’s Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade is a special one for Winterfest President and CEO Lisa Scott-Founds: her 20th.

The Fort Lauderdale native started volunteering for Winterfest in 1987, joined the organization as corporate and community relations manager in 1995, became executive director nine months later and took over as president and CEO in 2006.

“After I started volunteering, the parade became even more near and dear to my heart, and I saw how I could help and make a difference,” says Scott-Founds, who has been attending the boat parade since she was a child.

She considers moving the start of the parade from Port Everglades to downtown Fort Lauderdale to be her greatest achievement. That shift alone, she says, added 250,000 new spectators for the event.

Scott-Founds, who credits Kathy Keleher and Dawn Read (“the team that rocks”) with helping her succeed, says she “goes into work with a smile and leaves with a smile.”
