Wedding, party vintage furnishings

See something vintage you’d like to see in your party or wedding? Rent it

Jovan and Katie Blineau always were vintage fans. For her, it was clothing, jewelry and thrift store furnishings. For him, it was vintage lighters.

But it wasn’t until they visited the Postcard Inn on St. Petersburg Beach that the hotel’s retro style inspired them to collect vintage that morphed into a business.

A few months later they got engaged and began collecting vintage china, lace tablecloths, wooden crates and mismatched chairs for their Miami wedding.

“We spent seven months collecting,” he says. “Halfway through we had enough for the wedding and decided we would keep going. We said this would be a great business that doesn’t exist in South Florida.”

Since they started their rental business, Unearthed Vintage, in February, they have furnished everything from weddings to showers and birthday parties and hope to expand into movie props. An event for 100 people ranges from $2,000-$5,000. Styling and delivery are extra. They serve Key West to Palm Beach.

“We had seen similar businesses in California,” she says. “California tends to be ahead of Florida with trends. We are hopeful South Florida will be as receptive of vintage as it is modern art deco.”
