So, no, it’s not the real Oscars – but it’s absolutely the real thing for those in the community who put people before profits. The PNC Bank Non-Profit Awards celebrates the fruits and labors of Broward County’s local groups and leaders by giving them a show all their own – and the winners get more than a statuette.
In each of 10 categories, winners receive $1,000 for their organizations and two additional finalists get $500 each. The fourth annual ceremony presented by 2-1-1 Broward will be hosted by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Feb. 28.
Three finalists in each category will be named at the VIP Announcement Party on Jan. 16. This year a newcomer joins the list of categories, the Children’s Services Council of Broward County Collective Impact for Youth Award. The others are: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Non-Profit Organization of the Year; Broward College Non-Profit Leader of the Year; Community Foundation of Broward Non-Profit Board Leader of the Year; Nova Southeastern University Non-Profit Organization of the Year – The Arts; The Wasie Foundation Non-Profit Organization of the Year – Collaboration; Brown & Brown Insurance Non-Profit Organization of the Year – Innovation; Calvin, Giordano & Associates Non-Profit Organization of the Year – Rising Star; OK Generators Lifetime Achievement Award; and the Publix Community Choice Award, for which nominees from all categories are eligible and winners are decided by votes from the community.
The Memorial Healthcare Service Red Carpet & Wizard Creations Finalists Celebration begins at 11 a.m. on Feb. 28, followed by the luncheon and awards ceremony at noon. Tickets are $75 per person for general admission, $65 for FPL CLUB 2-1-1 Members, and $50 for non-profit staff/government representatives. Tables of 10 are $750 and Table Sponsorships begin at $1,250.
