Fort Lauderdale MODS gala raises over $450K

By Robyn A. Friedman

Some 650 guests samba and salsa’d the night away Nov. 14 at the Mercedes-Benz Fort Lauderdale Marvels of MODS Gala, benefiting programs and operations at the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale.

The “Rio Carnival meets SoBe Chic theme” gala raised over $450,000 for the Museum of Discovery and Science.

“The goals were to make this one of the most financially successful Galas in the history of the Museum, and one of the best in Broward County,” says Jon Ferrando, Museum Chairman of the Board of Trustees. “We achieved both, raising funds that will support science education in the community.”

The event was held in an air-conditioned tent behind the Museum, and included a cocktail reception, dinner and wine pairing, dancing and live and silent auctions.

Event chairs include Jason Williams of Wells Fargo, Russell Klenet of Russ Klenet & Associates, Broward County Commissioner Stacy Ritter and Thomas Angelo of Angelo & Banta.
