Emirates Airlines has inaugurated non-stop flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on planes that offer private suites and lie-flat-bed seats. The flights leave Fort Lauderdale every night at 8:20 p.m. and touch down in the Middle East business hub about 14 hours and 20 minutes later. For some  travelers, Dubai is a stopover on the way to the Indian subcontinent, the Far East and Africa. As a destination itself, Dubai – the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s second largest Emirate by size and population – boasts the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa; and offers activities that include sand boarding in the desert, skiing indoors and kite surfing. The Boeing 777-200LR Emirates aircraft is outfitted with eight first-class suites, 42 business class lie-flat beds and 216 economy-class seats. Amenities include 2,500 channels of on-demand entertainment at each seat, kids’ menus and kids’ activities. Guests in first class and business class are eligible for complimentary chauffeured rides to the airport. Emirates Airlines, based in Dubai, flies from 10 other points in the United States, including non-stop flights to Dubai from Orlando. Information, 800-777-3999, emirates.com
