Glamour gala raises $450,000 for MODS

The champagne was poured, the red carpet rolled out and the annual Mercedes-Benz Fort Lauderdale 21st Century MODS Gala fundraiser on Saturday (Nov. 8) netted $450,000 for the Museum of Discovery and Science.

The event, at the museum in Fort Lauderdale, featured a cocktail reception, dinner and wine pairing, dancing and auctions with prizes that included a lease on a 2015 Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet convertible. Developer Terry Stiles was honored for his more than 30 years leading fundraising, design and construction of the building as it exists today.

“It’s a really great party,” said museum president Kim Cavendish. “It not only honors someone who is a key individual in the community, it is also a way to show support for the museum and for science education.”

The theme for this year’s Gala was “Hollywood Glamour.” Guests were escorted down a “Hollywood Walk of Fame” into the event – which included an opportunity to be photographed on the red carpet. We present a sample here – additional images from the evening will be available after 3 p.m. today (11/12) at https://www.facebook.com/CityAndShoreMagazine.
