Glam Doll Strut turns Fort Lauderdale pink

Hundreds of women, men, kids — and some elaborately decorated dogs — turned downtown Fort Lauderdale into a sea of pink Saturday at The Glam Doll Strut. The eighth annual event, part of the Glam-A-THON series, is a fun, festive and fabulous walkathon to raise funds to support breast cancer victims and their families in our community.

Walkers danced, jiggled and, in one case, tangoed elegantly down Himmarshee Street in front of a panel of celebrity judges and presided over by WSVN News Anchor and Deco Drive host Lynn Martinez. Glam-A-THON is a nonprofit organization founded by Tammy Gail, a breast cancer survivor herself. This year, Gail hoped to donate a record amount this year to the Broward Health Foundation to assist women who are fighting breast cancer.

“Our mission is to act as a guardian angel for women facing this disease,” Gail says, who marked her 10th year of being breast-cancer free at the event. “We want them to know that they are not on this journey alone.”
