City & Shore wins four state, national awards

Work in City & Shore Magazine was honored with four state and national journalism awards this week, in profile writing, commentary/criticism and special interest publication categories, from the South Florida chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the national Society For Features Journalism.

The 2014 SPJ awards, announced Saturday night in Miami Beach, include 2nd Place for a profile of Bob and Ginny Newhart (http://bit.ly/1ioJijE and http://bit.ly/1onzoDV, respectively), written by contributing editor Elizabeth Rahe; 2nd Place for a collection of Editor & Publisher Mark Gauert’s First Words column in the Commentary & Criticism category ( http://bit.ly/1ij6fc9); and 3rd Place to City & Shore overall in the Special Interest Publication category. Mark Gauert also won 2nd Place in the Short Feature category from the Society For Features Journalism for “The Best Souvenir,’’ bit.ly/1y9d1Iz. The winners receive their awards this week at SFJ’s national conference in Nashville.
