4 Fourth of July Hometown Celebration Parade, featuring elected leaders, local businesses, civic groups, schools, bands, organizations and residents. 10:30 a.m. at Weston Town Center (and surrounding area). Free. 954-385-2000,

4 Old Fashioned Fourth at Flamingo Gardens, Davie. Celebrate Independence Day 1930s style. Barbecue and picnic lunches at the Flamingo cafe, jazz and swing music, vintage Model A cars. 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. 954-473-2955,

4   Tenth Annual 4th of July Celebration, including a kids’ fun zone, concessions, live music and fireworks. 5:30 p.m. at Sunset Cove Amphitheater, 20405 Amphitheater Circle, Boca Raton. Free.

4 Salute to Independence, Boynton Beach. The city’s celebration includes food, concerts, fireworks and more along the city’s waterfront. At Intracoastal Park, 2240 N. Federal Highway. Free.

4 July Fourth Celebration, Delray Beach. Family-friendly celebration featuring a sand-sculpture contest, music, children’s activities, live entertainment on the beach, food and a fireworks display. Events start at 8 a.m. and last all day, culminating in fireworks at 9 p.m. On the beach at the intersection of A1A and Atlantic Avenue.

4 Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Picnic at The Barnacle Historic State Park, Coconut Grove. Celebrate Independence Day with hot food, live music, games, crafts and fun for the whole family. Admission $5 adults, $3 ages 6-12, children under 6 are free. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

7, 14, 21 and 28 Friday Night Sound Waves, a free live music series on Fort Lauderdale Beach, featuring the Fabulons (7), Goodnicks (14), Othello Molineux Quintet (21) and Shauna Sweeney (28). 6-9 p.m. on the sand at Las Olas Boulevard and A1A, Fort Lauderdale.

11  Pinion Passion Hour, benefiting Special Olympics Broward County and its athletes. 5:30 p.m. at Café Vico, 1125 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. $10, members; $15, non-members (includes one cocktail and light bites). 954-614-6795,

11, 12 and 13 Moonlight Turtle Walks, an evening of sea turtle exploration. Nature permitting, participants will see a 300-pound Loggerhead sea turtle venture out of the ocean to lay her eggs. The adventure begins at 9 p.m. at the Museum of Discovery and Science with an informative session about turtles and continues to Fort Lauderdale beach, where Museum guides will lead guests to the turtles’ nesting grounds. 14  Sushi & Stroll Summer Walk, an opportunity to explore Japanese gardens, sip craft sake, indulge in Pan-Asian cuisine and enjoy a roaring taiko drum performance. 5:30 p.m. at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach. 21-23  Margaritaville Sports & Recreation’s Yoga In Margaritaville, its first yoga retreat, which includes indoor and outdoor yoga instruction, workshops on wellness topics, healthy cuisine and more, all taking place at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. Melanie Buffett, niece of Jimmy Buffett, will be a guest speaker.

25-30 BugFest-By-The-Sea, Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Kick off the lobster mini season with a party, a lobster hunting class and a workshop before The Great Florida Bug Hunt Contest. Prizes will be given in several categories, including biggest lobster. $20 registration includes a BugFest T-shirt and goody bag.
