Someone important on gift list: Yourself

By Nancy McVicar

The weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day can be hectic, stressful, happy, disappointing, sad – the whole gamut of human emotion, as well as physically challenging at times.

A perfect gift to smooth out the ups and downs is a visit to a spa, for a few hours or the day, or even a week of total relaxation and pampering. South Florida offers many different venues and packages that can be neatly wrapped up in a gift card and presented at the best possible moment. You decide.

“What we find more and more is that people like to give experiential gifts, and a spa gift is a gift of different possibilities – massage, luxury Guerlain facials, a myriad of services,” says Bonnie Reuben, a spokesperson for The Spa at The Breakers luxury oceanfront hotel in Palm Beach. “It’s a gift of indulgence that the person probably wouldn’t buy for themselves.”

Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa at The Galleria in Fort Lauderdale wants to reduce your stress and is offering an extra $30 gift card with every $200 gift card purchased until Dec. 25, says Claire Perkins, spokesperson for the spa, and good on products or spa services such as massage, nails, facials and waxing. According to Elizabeth Arden’s experts the number one reason people visit a spa is to reduce stress and the number one treatment they choose is massage.

“The holidays can be so hectic, and the gift of a spa treatment is perfect for disconnecting and unwinding,” says Stephanie Necuze, a spokesperson for the Lapis Spa at the Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach.

Lapis Spa features an array of services and with each spa reservation, guests also get access to the spa’s signature Water Journeys and the entire Fontainebleau poolscape – stretching a single tranquil treatment into a full day of rejuvenation and serenity.
