Japanese paper exhibit at Morikami in Delray

The medium is the masterpiece in a new exhibit at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach. “Washi Transformed: New Expressions in Japanese Paper,” on display through April 2, features over 30 works by nine contemporary Japanese artists. The highly textured two-dimensional pieces, expressive sculptures and dramatic installations demonstrate how something as ephemeral as paper can form a cultural thread from the ancient to the contemporary. Also, the Yamato-kan, the Morikami’s original museum modeled after a pristine Japanese villa, has recently reopened following a renovation.
