By Greg Carannante

If you’ve tried to watch a movie lately, you well know that Hollywood has fallen under the influence of comic books. The season’s headline exhibition at the Boca Raton Museum of Art shows they’ve influenced contemporary artists as well. As its title connotes, Beyond the Cape! Comics and Contemporary Art goes beyond the superhero phenomenon into adult realms and thorny issues, setting itself apart from other comics shows. A varied menu of media from photography to tapestry also includes rare comics and a series of contemporary animation coupled with rarely seen cartoons from the early 1900s. The show runs through Oct. 6. For more info, visit bocamuseum.org
