When interior designer Krista Watterworth Alterman dreams of a master bath, she dreams of a sensual, upscale lounge – inspired by her own routine getting ready for date nights with her husband.
“It brings us back to that feeling of dating again,” says Alterman, creative director of Krista + Home in Palm Beach Gardens. “It’s appealing to all the senses.”
The dressing room portion of “le bubble lounj” includes a settee and a countertop ideal for setting up drinks and appetizers. Water flows into the shower from overhead panels. The digital display is programmed to your preferences. Even the toilet is equipped with smart features.
Alterman is savoring the opportunity to turn her dream bathroom into reality Jan. 26-Feb. 20 at the Kips Bay Decorator Show House in West Palm Beach.
The 10,000-square-foot home on the Intracoastal Waterway will serve as a gallery of sorts, displaying the varied styles of about 20 design professionals who each revamped a different room in the show house.
Leanne Yarn of Yarn Design Associates in Boca Raton is working on a dream of her own in a downstairs den, using a refreshing palette of light blue shades and hints of gold. She’s also packing the room with paintings and sculptures.
In the upstairs logia, Louise Cronan of Louise W. Cronan Interior Decoration in West Palm Beach, is incorporating enticing elements for enjoying the outdoors, including a backgammon table and fountain with a whimsical dolphin motif.
“Each room is a different experience,” Yarn says. “It’s like a museum for interior design.”
